(Posted on 2012-07-28) As a professional manufacturer automotive technician, I was looking for a fast and feature-packed generic OBD-II scanner for my home shop. I found what I was looking for in this little guy here. I have a Creader V and was tired of it auto ranging and erasing the graph as I was attempting to read sensor outputs. This Creader VI auto ranges when in graph mode and enlarges the readout to fit rather than wipe it and start over with the new high and low values of the sensor. This makes diagnosis a whole lot smoother. No other generic OBD-II scanner on the market can touch this, especially for the money. I have used $500 scanners (Actron) that are slower, bulkier, and not nearly as sharp as the Launch Creader VI. Highly satisfied.

I read the instructions thoroughly before using.This device was not operational on my vehicles and we tried it on my colleagues car at work as well.It's too bad because I wanted this unit to work.I returned 3 weeks ago and am still eating for refund.

(Posted on 2012-05-09) I bougth this for home use and discovered it was a far better unit than it is advertised. This is very good easy to use and read. With a little hands on time it will do most of your scan needs if you do not need to read other than engine codes

(Posted on 2012-04-30) This product does everything as advertised. There is a video on youtube with step by step instructions on how to update the tool. It is the same scan tool you can buy on the Mac truck for more money. I have also used the X431 and it is a great product 2 thumbs up for Launch!

Honda - OBD-II reader scan tool that can also diagnose air bag light - Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Beta

Interestingly, you can read the code without a scanner. The airbag light or ABS light (and even the check engine light) will all blink the codes when the OBD-II connector is properly bridged. For example if it blinks 5 time slow and 1 time fast you have a 51 code. All you'll need is a paper clip.
This video below will demonstrate how to do it. I just did this and it works great. Once you obtain the code you can go online and look up what it means.

I have a 2005 Honda Element and I was actually able to just reset the light because the sensor misfired. This video will show you how to reset the light:

OBD-II ELM 327 Bluetooth Scanner Transmitter Review

There are a lot of OBD-II interface devices out there that use the ELM327 microcontroller, but they don't all have the same build quality. Some of these devices are notorious for failing to pair via Bluetooth, but the Yongtek ELM327 Bluetooth scanner seems to have a pretty solid build quality.

If you have an Android phone or tablet, there are a number of apps that can read and display OBD-II sensor data. That can allow you to use your tablet as a replacement instrument cluster if you want, or you can zero in on one data stream to help with a sticky diagnosis.

 It's still a good idea to buy from a reputable seller just in case, but you probably won't have any issues if you go with the Yongtek.The device itself is easy to use, and data transfer is snappy after you have it paired. It's probably the cheapest way you'll find to read and clear trouble codes, and it also provides access to a wealth of sensor data. You can use that to perform your own diagnostics, but it's also fun to play around with.
